Assuming a basic familiarity with Spark and Scala, author Michael Malak will cover a what GraphX is, its most fundamental operations, and under what circumstances GraphX is useful from architectural and performance points of view. At least one interesting application using open data will be presented. Hardcore graph theory will be avoided, but terminology will be defined along the way.
Michael Malak has been implementing Spark solutions at two Fortune 200 companies since February, 2013; has presented three times on Spark to the Data Science Association; presented at Spark Summit 2015 in San Francisco; and is the author of the upcoming book Spark GraphX In Action.
Note 1 on combined Meetup: This is a combined Meetup with the Denver Scala Users Group, the Graph Nerds of Boulder, and the Boulder/Denver Spark Meetup groups.
Note 2 on no slides and video this time: Unlike most Data Science & Business Analytics Meetups, slides, live stream, and video will not be available for this particular topic.
