A Database Month event http://www.DBMonth.com/database/nielsen-cloud

In this session, you will learn how Nielsen obtains adaptive audience intelligence via front-edge architecture and innovative technical choices that have led to the success of the Nielsen Marketing Cloud.

We will discuss:

• The online machine learning stack used at Nielsen Cloud

• How ML can achieve predictive personalization

• Technical lessons-learned that can be applied to any digital transformation project

Kevin Lyons has been Senior Vice President, Data Science, Digital Technologies at Nielsen Marketing Cloud since 2011. At NMC, Mr. Lyons is responsible for heading the vision and execution of data mining, analytics and data optimization activities.

He joined NMC from x+1, a leading technology company, where he served as Vice President of Analytics and Business Intelligence. There, he strove to enable real-time decisioning as well as multichannel digital campaign management through analytics and optimization.

Before x+1, he spent over a decade as a Vice President responsible for web and marketing analytics at QualityHealth.com, a leading website providing consumer health news and information, and at direct marketing agency Harte-Hanks.

He holds a BA in Russian Language and Eastern European Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an MA in Medieval History from The Ohio State University and an MA in Applied Statistics from the City University of New York-Hunter College.

Brent Keator is Vice President of Infrastructure at Nielsen Marketing Cloud and has been overseeing the SRE team since 2013. He has helped grow the global team and led the scalable operational finesse and cross-team collaboration of supporting the full product suite at the NMC.

Brent spent his prior 10 years leading in various roles of Operations, Engineering, and Product in Infrastructure, Integration, and Low-Latency Computing/HFT divisions for Morgan Stanley.

Prior to Brent's professional career chapter in NYC, he spent his childhood in New Orleans leaving with a parting prize of a BA(double-degree) in International Business/CIS at Loyola in his home state.

Brian Bulkowski, CTO & Co-Founder of Aerospike, has a background of 25 years in the Silicon Valley as a team leader, architect, and senior manager entirely in the area of large-scale server infrastructures (commodity routers at Novell, video servers at Starlight Networks, large-scale broadband at Liberate, and distributed computation at Aggregate Knowledge).

Brian founded Aerospike after learning first hand, the scaling limitations of sharded MySQL systems at Aggregate Knowledge. As director of performance at this media intelligence SaaS company, Brian led the team in building and operating a clustered recommendation engine.

Prior to Aggregate Knowledge, Brian was a founding member of the digital TV team at Navio Communications and chief architect of Cable Solutions at Liberate Technologies where he built the high-performance embedded networking stack and the Internet-scale broadcast server infrastructure. Before Liberate, Brian was a lead engineer at Novell, where he was responsible for the AppleTalk stack for Netware 3 and 4.
